Puggles: Activity group for bereaved siblings

What is Puggles?

Puggles is our safe and supportive activity group for children whose sibling died (bereaved siblings). Kids of all ages can join us.

Each session, we enjoy activities like craft to remember our sibling who died, playing games, kids’ yoga, and talking or journalling about our experiences. And we have snacks!

We are here to help your child to express themselves, and to understand and normalise the emotions they may be feeling.

This event is family-friendly, but we need you to stay to supervise your children’s safety. So you can make some friends who “get it” in your local area, too.

About our support group facilitator

Hi, I’m TJ Withers, and I run our Puggles groups in south-east Queensland. As a student teacher at QUT, I study how trauma affects children’s and teenagers’ brains, feelings, and behaviours, to help kids find what they need to cope. Through Red Nose, I’ve trained to understand the different ways of grieving, and how to support families after loss. I volunteered as a youth group leader for 10 years because I love working with young people, and I currently volunteer in advocacy for trauma survivors. I have a current, valid Blue Card.

A gentle reminder: Our community events are not formal support groups, but rather a space for all to come together, make friends, and remember our star babies while parenting our living children. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re parenting living children after loss, trying to conceive again, pregnant again, etc. We embrace the diversity of experiences and look forward to creating a warm, supportive space for all.
